a lot of those laney aor amps have been compared to the marshall jcm 800 but with more gain. if you like hair metal of the 80's, the aor can do that, but you can dial in whatever tone you're looking for. have you looked at any of the older laney supergroup heads? didn't see a supergroup on ebay, but...
