Re: Iowa Money, yo
Are venues just not interested in hosting the shows or what?
Re: Iowa Money, yo
A lot of the smaller towns in iowa are scared to book hip hop shows. Cause they are still living with that stereotype bullshit where every rap show is going to bring guns and drugs. 5 or 6 years ago it was nearly impossible to book a show even in des moines because of places like crossroads and some other clubs that kept getting shot up.
Booking shows period as an Iowa hip hop act is tough as hell though... and clowns like these guys getting pub doesn't help at all. When Iowa is put together with Hip Hop it generally gets you laughed at. "what do you rap about potatoes?"

Re: Iowa Money, yo
That shit is lame... Vaudeville is pretty good about hosting hip-hop shows, aren't they?
I think that attitude is held across the board towards Iowa acts, probably not to the same degree though. I had some guy ask me if I had ever listened to The Pogues because he wasn't sure if we "got that kind of music in Iowa." The son-of-a-bitch was from Lincoln, Nebraska too...

Re: Iowa Money, yo
not only that, but in smaller towns, there are fewer, if any, venues and a smaller audience who would care to see a show. so as much as des moines may not be a music mecca, it could be a whole lot worse.
Even today, I can't see a car run a red light without instantly having an image flash into my head of a man's erect penis, penetrating a watermelon.

Very true... but I am more so talking about booking our shows outside the state. I get a lot of email responses...
"iowa hip hop??? no thanks"
For the most part it is warranted though. There are so many horrible hip hop acts in iowa, the midwest, and pretty much just in general anymore.
Re: Iowa Money, yo
Well alot of drugs and violence does happen at hip hop shows. Some kid was stabbed at snoop dogg. Some other dude was stabbed during the drake relays bannana give away or whatever. *racially suggestive if you cant read between the lines*
As far as these guys getting in juice.....anyone can get a write up in Juice. Its not to difficult being that the quality of journalism is shit (the last issue was a bunch of mastabatory fantasies) and its a hefty advert paycheck for the register.
Lastly - these hacky bastards suck ass. I seen 'em.

Don't ask me why. Boredom I guess. I wanted a good lol so I was looking at their myspace bio and here's some good shit:
Just thought I'd share this.
THese really do act black. They evidently bought some beats off some brother who apparently did beats for the bolded rappers.....so evidently this means they "worked" with them. Hahahahahaha oh fuck. Straight up niggerish shit.Kyd N Tre have worked with/associated with Lil’ Wayne, Ludacris, The Game, Field Mob, Chamillionaire, Mista Cane, Ken Jo, Wes Fif, Hyro Da Hero and The Pack. With production from Tre himself, Kane Beatz, J Mack, Pyro, Black Tee Productions and Mardah Beatz.
I liked this one. Well the kydntre myspace has only 470 total plays, Tre D gayzi has 15,000 (lol mason city 15 year olds must love them shits), Eyerish has 13,000 plays, and xeros8 (cant belive I actually spelled it has) 964 plays. Their "awesome" you tube vid has about 475 plays. So 470+15,000+13,000+964+475= 100'000 plays. They be mathmatical geniuses yo'. Ill as fuck son. They have a record of almost 99,000 song/video plays. They are attempting to hit 100,000 by release date. They want to make their names known throughout the city with their third duo album. The album titled, “Iowa Money” signifies their upgrade from a small city scale to the big city spectrum.
Fragment. Needs correction. Major LAWL at stars. With the stars of the city voicing their support from Joey Ashby to Horizon to Izzy Dunfore.

Good work, Beaver. Someone needs to take these guys to task for saying they've "associated" with Ludacris and Lil' Wayne, I'd like to hear how that happens. I once shared an elevator with the dudes from Orgy, I wonder if that means I'm associated with them now.Beaver wrote::Kyd N Tre have worked with/associated with Lil’ Wayne, Ludacris, The Game, Field Mob, Chamillionaire, Mista Cane, Ken Jo, Wes Fif, Hyro Da Hero and The Pack. I also notice that Prophecy's name isn't mentioned in that list. Looks like Kyd n Tre are leaving you behind!
Who are these local "stars"?
Re: Iowa Money, yo
We played some Des Moines Rugby show and Izzy Dunfore was on it. I couldn't tell you if he is any good or not but he was a nice guy.El Rhino wrote: Who are these local "stars"?

When I think local stars, I think Ben Ulin, Michelle from Fox 17 (WOULD), Noreen Gosch, etc, etc.

Apparently being played on 105.1's The Garage makes someone a star these days.
Speaking of The Garage, I would love to hear an interview with Tre D Crazi and Eyerishkyd...
