Metallica to play des moines' own wells fargo arena

Post by TooManyHumyns » Mon Aug 18, 2008 9:56 pm

with special guests:
drum roll.....

down-lol
and
THE SWORD-actually pretty sick

tickets range from:
Floor - General Admission $76.50
100 Level $56.50
200 Level $56.50
300 Level $56.50

will anybody here actually go?
will the new album live up to Master of Puppets as lars said it will, or a modern version of And Justice for All like kirk says it will? or most likely neither?
oh and here is the 'official track listing' for DEATH MAGNETIC which is set to be released on Friday, September 12:

That Was Just Your Life
The End Of The Line
Broken, Beat & Scarred
The Day That Never Comes
All Nightmare Long
Cyanide
The Unforgiven III
The Judas Kiss
Suicide & Redemption
My Apocalypse

yes, unforgiven 3 is for real...
any thoughts?

AWFUL.

If tickets were considerably less I would think about going.

Death Magnetic is also going to suck. I mean, I hope it does not, but it will.

Usually I  when people bitch about ticket prices, but $135 for low-end seats for Metallica is way too high. I guess they've got to make up for all the money they've lost from people downloading music somehow.

This is happening to ALL arena concert acts. Not just Metallica, but everyone- Stones, mccartney, madonna, janet jackson, boba fett etc. etc.
The reason they're charging so much is because the show would sell out if tix were at/around $65. Then you get dozens of scalpers jacking the price up to around $200...(which some people will gladly pay at that point) and that's money 'tallica doesn't ever see. It's not that they necessarily want to or need to raise the prices, but they're trying to eliminate this aspect of douchebaggary.

It basically boils down to who would you rather pay $150 to? Metallica (the band you WANT TO SEE) or some douchebag scalper who's just taking advantage of the situation. It's a much bigger issue than you may think.

I'd go if it was $20 and they were guaranteed to play "Dyers Eve".

Oh, and McCartney and all those other douchebags have been charging in the hundreds for at least the last ten years, because their old ass fanbase can afford it.

Okay, the new song... "The Day That Never Comes" it sucks up until the vocals stop then it fucking rips.
I will sneak into this concert to headbang to the last 2 1/2 minutes of this song.

1twistedworld wrote:Wow. It has been a long time since a Metallica tune has touched me like this one has. I began listening to Metallica back in the eighties when thrash was a nasty underground mutant offspring of heavy metal. This is a very significant song to me and many other fans of the group and by the way, seebe22... eat a dick. You are irrelevant. And by the way, who gives a fuck if you're a Seabee. Anyways, I feel that adopting Rob as their bass player was a good move. The fuckin dude kicked ass n Suicidal

WOW. I can't believe so many "old fans" fell for the same magic trick that got all their (post) Load fans.

It's another BLATANT attempt at appealing to what's in. It's what they've ALWAYS done. This is not new metallica-it is regurgitated Metallica. You can hear kirk blatantly rip off his own solos....as well as a HORRIBLE...HORRIBLE HORRIBLE attempt at a "neo-classical" motif. JESUS CHRIST. How embarrassing. I feel bad for fans of metallica who still hold on.

Unfortunately, the average person could give a shit about a "neo-classical" motif, and is it better to have a bad neo classical motif in a song that is getting mass radio airplay, or better to just have Buck Cherry or Kid Rock throw out another song about drinking or fucking?

I feel bad for people who actually have to feel the need to change their opinion on metallica based on every thing they do.

I got Reload and Master of Puppets when I was in 5th grade........

I liked both......

I still do...........

What other band ever has payed as big a homage to metal legends such as Mercyful Fate.........

Most people who I hear talk positively or negatively about metallica these days, do not even know much of anything about heavy metal. It's just this epic never ending trend to have a metallica opinion, when in reality most people do not give a fuck about the other person's opinion, only their own.

you were in 5th grade when Reload came out? jesus christ you're young. which, unfortunately for you, means you have less of a chance at knowing anything about Metallica.

the first concert i ever went to was the ...And Justice For All tour in 1988. i was a fan until Load came out on my birthday in 94. i listened to it once and sold it to CD warehouse.

there's a better chance of finding Bigfoot than there is Metallica ever putting out good music again. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. STOP WAITING FOR IT.

p.s. just beacuse it's got a fast tempo doesn't make the end of that new song good. the riffs are awful, like the rest of the song.

colonizer should hook up a generator outside of wells fargo and play master of puppets.

nah, nowadays it seems they just do really dumb medleys combining the older stuff.

that may have been true when Load came out, but now they have 3 horrible albums plus new material to cover. . .don't expect much old shit.
