I hear he's really sucked live for the past ten years or so but I'll definitely have to attend this.

Well, he is a critically acclaimed international recording artist on a major label with a large band.... $20-ish is about what I would expect to pay for this.

He often gets described as the "Otis Redding of reggae". So basically very soulful reggae (and yes, other forms of Jamaican music including but not limited to ska). Highly recommended. I'm sure you've heard "Pressure Drop" or "54-46 Was My Number" before. Sublime covered 54-46 on their 40oz to Freedom album and if you're familiar with The Specials s/t album "Monkey Man" is a Toots song.

I'm glad I saw him tonight. I don't know if I'd go out of my way to do it again, but he's been a favorite of mine for a long time. My only complaint was that he drug out some songs way too long like a ten minute version of "Dog War" and I think he took about twenty minutes to wrap up his set. I don't like it when bands dick the dog. He played all of his hits and popular songs plus a few I didn't expect. I expected "She's My Scorcher" and maybe "John and James" but no dice.

The audience was mainly normal people with a sizable hippie contingent. Most people seemed to be really into it. I imagine a free show in Boulder would look like Kent State before the Ohio National Guard showed up.

Oh yeah, finally met Johnny Reeferseed tonight. He was everything I expected although I found it strange he was wearing one of his band's shirts. We'll have to go out and grab a QT burrito and a Hawaiian punch sometime.

I REALLY enjoyed this show. I would go see it again. I saw a lot of people aside from the regular show goers at this show who I wouldn't have thought would be there. I saw JRS but didn't introduce myself.

I really like Public Property, I think out of the bands that try to copy that traditional style these days, those guys can do it. Their drummer is so good. IF there was one kind of drum style I wish I could play with ease it is Ska/Reggae. It is such an odd way of drumming and doesn't come naturally to me...it is frustrating.

In conclusion, I had a major blast. I took some photos and I will probably upload them at some point for anyone that gives a shit.

Twas a great show. First time I've ever saw Toots & The Maytals. I didn't mind the extendo-version songs. Public Property was really on it last night. I've seen them several times before and they've always been good. The back up singers have some killer harmonies going on.

I found it strange to be wearing my own bands shirt, but it was my last clean one. Some chick outside asked if I'd ever seen us play. I said "yeah, they suck but they gave me a free shirt with a big pot leaf on it, so at least they're nice guys". Then she told me I should check out their songs on myspace and how they won a MMA. I was like , "wow. that's cool!"

That show was great....cept for all the pot smoking hippies... Great to hear older songs...the punching video game was great...need to get one for GT. Some patchouli smelling 20 y/o girls told me I was "killing the reggae vibe", I told them to go take a bath and work for a living.
