Some of the angriest straight to the point punk rock I've heard in a while. All played by 50 year fat long haired old men. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ShaOzvLBts

Yeah hadn't made the bug spray connections. I used to have one of the "Black Flag kills Ants on Contact" stickers from the famous Adam Ant show in the 80s but have no idea where it went.

yeah cuz kurtis is such a toughguy edgeman.

i really really dig it. didn't realize it at the time, but i saw an early incarnation of them at sxsw last year. keith's always been my favorite flag frontman, and i think dudes still rockin despite his age.

I guess the deal with this is Keith and McDonald wrote these song during break between recording the Circle Jerk record that didn't happen. McDonald was producing the album and told the CJ that the songs weren't good enough to be a Circle Jerks record. Keith sided with him with the rest of the band wanted to fire him. Thus we get Off! and no new Circle Jerk record.

I don't care what you say if anything this is a big kick in the ass of all the sub-genre bull shit that has come out in the last 10 years or so. It's simple angst ridden punk rock without all the posturing, the fashion or the tough guy bullshit.

This is really good, but it's not a kick in the ass to anything.

I think maybe I phrased the incorrect. What I was getting at is there is that they are letting the music stand for itself. No gadgets, membership card, polish or sells pitch. Much in the same way Black Flag was in the beginning. Just a bunch of Surfer and Skater Geeks playing for other Geeks.

from the OFF! website
What formalized in late 2009 was a mix of fate and irony. Coats signed on as producer for what was to be the Circle Jerks' first album in 14 years. But it was during breaks in the studio that Morris and Coats created a few raw demos of their own material, and through that, a strong collaboration took shape. McDonald and Rubalcaba were added to the lineup to sire the propulsive force that is OFF!
i heard that greg hetson didnt like the songs that dimitri & keith worked on & didn't want them for the circle jerks.

to me, this is a MUCH better project. the circle jerks last few albums were tired.

It's good but I don't get the hype. It's definitely not the angriest punk I've listened to either.

With on this, I've always liked Rollins vocals in Black Flag more.

Personally I alway like Dez's vocals best but that might be in part because I always thought Rollins was a tool.

Hmmm, he was the first singer for one of the most well known Hardcore Punk bands and he fronted the Circle Jerks for what 20 years? I do think that it counts for something. Greg and him went round and round on who wrote what. I even asked Spot when I met him and he refused to answer. Still even without the Black Flag stuff there is the whole Circle Jerks Catalog and the impact they made on the Hardcore Scene. The Circle Jerks were one of the bands all those Straight Edge DC and Boston bands were trying to sound like.

IVE NEVER LIKED THE CIRCLE JERKS. i thought everybody liked him for being a jerk piece of shit asshole front man drunk screamer singer? i could be wrong like i said i dont like the circle jerks and he wasnt really in black flag for that long.

i dont know what dc/boston straight edge bands youre talking about?

every time i think of circle jerks i think of "youve bet weve got something personal against you"

ive always thought black flags singers were easily replaced. what do you mean who wrote what? lyrics or music?

Circle Jerks - Wasted > Black Flag - Wasted

I never really cared much for Black Flag.

I never really cared much for Circle Jerks besides group sex

morris wrote wasted so it's not really a cover. it's his song & he can do it in whatever band he wants.

you bet we've got something personal against you is the WORST black flag song that i've heard, but i've never listened to any album past damaged so there could be more. whose idea was it to take wasted & put new & incredibly bad lyrics over it? those lyrics are so stretched out. it's like someone thought they were being funny/clever but never knew how stupid they were acting.

morris is my favorite black flag vocalist with dez in 2nd.

what do you mean wrote? lyrics? and you think wasted is good lyrically?

and damaged is the start of black flag getting insanely good but not many people agree with me. i still think before damaged they were just some dumb kinda good but silly band for the most part.

best thing morris did was marry debbie gibson
